To My Good Men and Women...

Posted on February 14, 2010 with 1 comment

Hey folks,

For this week's post, instead of writing something in regards to Valentine's Day, I wanted to offer something that maybe would make you take a second to think about how you've been approaching your life and your outlook towards it. So, I decided to re-post an old Facebook blog I wrote about the difference between a "good" man and a "great" one. Keep in mind, however, that I only use the term "man" for simplicity's sake. Everything I've written below applies to both men and women. The reason I decided to go with a re-post as opposed to a brand new entry is that I felt that this particular post had a lot to say, in few words, about greatness and that when I posted it before, it was more of a personal item seen by only a handful of people, and was worth sharing with more.

Those last few statements weren't meant to be me "tooting my own horn", but rather me explaining my reasoning. In any case, I hope you enjoy the short post below and can find an idea to apply to your life. For those of you who may have already read it, consider reading through it again to see if there's anything that carries more weight or resonance with you now.

To my good men and women...

  • A good man donates his money. A great man donates his time.
  • A good man sees an obstacle to growth. A great man sees an opportunity for it.
  • A good man hopes for success. A great man plans for it.
  • A good man cares what others think. A great man cares what others feel.
  • A good man strives for discipline. A great man simply knows what he really wants.
  • A good man works to meet the world's standards. A great man works to bring the world up to his.
  • A good man knows what's important. A great man knows what's not.
  • A good man sets rules for his children. A great man sets examples.
  • A good man plays to his strengths. A great man improves on his weaknesses.
  • A good man writes about what a great man does. A great man goes out and does them.

My good men and women, go be great.

As always, thanks for taking your precious time to read my posts, I hope they offer you some sort of value in return. If there's any additions you'd like to make to this list, please share your thoughts and ideas by posting a statement of your own in the "comments" section below.

Thanks again, I look forward to sharing more with you next week.
